Improving the plasticity of forgings and reducing the deformation resistance


In order to facilitate metal blank flow forming, reasonable measures can be taken to reduce deformation resistance and save energy of the equipment. Generally, the following approaches are adopted to achieve:
1) master the characteristics of forging materials, and select reasonable deformation temperature, deformation speed and deformation degree.
2) to promote the homogenization of the chemical composition and organizational state of the material, such as large steel ingot with high alloy, homogenization treatment at high temperature, so as to improve the plasticity of the material.

3) select and determine the most favorable deformation process, such as forging difficult deformation, low plasticity of high alloy steel forging, in order to upset the surface of the material in the state of pressure, to prevent tangential tension and the generation of cracks, can be used to forge the package upsetting process.
4) use different tools to operate, and correct use of tools can improve the non-uniformity of deformation.If pull out long axis type forging, can use V shape anvil or round anvil, make the forging surface pressure increases, thereby the plasticity improves somewhat, and can prevent the forging surface and the heart to produce the crack.
5) improve the operation method to reduce the impact of friction and cooling during forging billet, and avoid upsetting cracking.For example, for the forging of pancakes of low plastic material, it can be solved by the process of upsetting two pieces upside-down once, then turning each piece 180° for the second upsetting.

6) the adoption of better lubrication measures can improve the surface condition of forging pieces and molds, reduce the influence of friction and obtain even deformation, thus reducing the deformation resistance.
