1) Grasp the material characteristics of forgings, and select a reasonable deformation temperature, velocity and degree.
2) Promote the homogeneity of the chemical composition and microstructure of the material, such as the high temperature homogenization treatment of large high-alloy steel ingot, so as to improve the plasticity of the material.

3) Selection of the most favorable deformation process, such as forging hard deformation, low plastic high alloy steel forging, in order to upsetting the surface of the material in a state of pressure, prevent tangential tension and crack, can be used to forge the casing upsetting process.
4) Use different tools, and correct use of tools can improve the non-uniformity of deformation.For long shaft forgings, v-shaped anvil or round anvil can be used to increase the surface pressure of the forgings, thus improving the plasticity and preventing cracks on the surface and in the heart.
5) Improve the operation method to reduce the influence of friction and cooling during forging, and avoid upsetting phenomenon.For example, for pancake forging with low plastic materials, the process of upsetting two pieces together for one time and then turning each piece 180° for the second time can be adopted to solve the problem.
6) Better lubrication measures can improve the surface condition of forgings and molds, reduce the influence of friction, obtain uniform deformation, and thus reduce deformation resistance.
